Understanding your Flood Relief Options

There are many areas to turn if you are flood affected. These include:
· Your insurance provider.
· Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment of up to $3,000.00 per adult and $1,200.00 per child through Services Australia at https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/nsw-floods-february-2022-australian-government-disaster-recovery-payment
· Disaster Recovery Allowance being up to $629.50 per fortnight for up to 13 weeks for employees and small businesses that can not work due to the floods through Services Australia at https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/nsw-floods-february-2022-disaster-recovery-allowance
· Small business recovery grants through Services NSW of up to $50,000.00, Primary producer recovery grants through Services NSW of up to $75,000.00 at https://www.nsw.gov.au/floods/financial-support-for-businesses
· Small businesses and Primary producers may also be eligible for a concessional loan of up to $130,000.00 at 0.8% for up to 12 years through the NSW Rural Assistance Authority at https://www.raa.nsw.gov.au/disaster-assistance/storm-and-flood-programs/sdg-february-2022
· Most banks have policies in place to help customers who have been affected by flooding including short term relief on loans and waiving of fees or discounted interest rates. Some lenders such as NAB and Westpac are providing cash grants to help cover costs like temporary accommodation, food, clothing and help with reopening businesses. · Your service providers will have policies in place to provide short term belief from bills such as power, gas, water, telephones and internet. Please get in contact with your providers for more information.
While it may not be a wonderful time for our local families, it is still really important to understand what assistance is available to you and to obtain timely advice from these service providers.
